After act one we find the irony of what was said by Gerald 'You seem to be a nice well-behaved family-' and Mr Birlings reply 'Well we think we are'. The exit of Eric shows us that there is more to Eric's involvement than the others which is hidden in Act one until the end because of his drunkenness the inspector leaves him last to be questioned. At the end of act one the audience is left at suspense when Gerald is approached by the inspector we find a great intensity

A Comparison Between Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini Essay -- Nation
A Comparison Between Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini There is no doubt that Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini shared many similar characteristics. They shared movements that were typical of National Socialism: they adopted a radical nationalism, militaristic hierarchies, violence, the cult of charismatic leadership, contempt for individual liberties and civil rights, an anti-democratic and anti-socialist orientation, and a refusal to socialize industries. Hitler and Mussolini looked upon the new form of government, which was Totalitarianism. This form of government means there is only one leader to make decisions and thus they killed or jailed all opponents. Mussolini and Hitler used this form of government after World War One to make their countries into world powers. Perhaps the most obvious similarity would be the path they took to power. In parliament Hitler and Mussolini gathered small groups of followers they would use to bully voters, Hitlerââ¬â¢s SS and SA and Mussoliniââ¬â¢s Brown Shirts. The point of these behind these parties was that they both expressed what voters wanted to hear. They spoke of greater job opportunities and rejuvenation of their countries. Hitler and Mussolini used violent propaganda to increase social struggle everywhere in their countries. The polarization of the society produced by this violent behavior benefited the fascist parties. Both leaders used their political strength to impose conditions on their people. Both Hitler and Mussolini were finally given the opportunity to form a government and carried out their election promises. Their ruling of power came about to be so similar because of their similar roads to power. Here we see some differences in the way Hitler and Mussolini actually came to power. Mussolini encountered many forms of resistance and had to co-exist with other competitors for power, such as the Italian monarchy and rivals even inside his own party. Hitler proved very strong right from the beginning and he brought his plans very nearly to completion, controlling the party and the country much more thoroughly than Mussolini could. The goals of these two leaders were also very alike because of their fascist ideas. The keystone of the fascist political system was the leader: every person and every group, every lobby, lay beneath him on the same level. The Italian and German fascist movements tr... ...m agreement on religion. In Italy the Catholic Church exercised a strong influence on the people. In Italy the strong presence of Catholic religion and organizations influenced Mussoliniââ¬â¢s policies concerning women. Although the fascist ideology intended to abolish class struggle by establishing a new corporative society, its ideas about the role of women in such a society remained very conservative. Hitler had similar beliefs about the role of women in a Nazi society but he never tried to force them to stay home, indeed, he supported their participation in industrial production. Hitlerââ¬â¢s rule was cold and calculating, his only joys were the tramping of military boots in Nazi parades and the huge applause at Nazi rallies. On the other hand Mussolini tried to appear o his people as a ââ¬Å"supermanâ⬠. It is true that the Italian dictatorship was more conservative in its application than that of Hitlerââ¬â¢s reign of terror. But, both the fascist ideas and rulings of these two leaders proved to have some similarities worth mentioning. Both leaders left their countries with an economic and social debt to the Allies, which is still strong in the minds of many older members of the community.

Rational Planning Essay
Verifying, defining & detailing the problem (problem definition, goal definition, information gathering). This step includes recognizing the problem, defining an initial solution, and starting primary analysis. Examples of this are creative devising, creative ideas, inspirations, breakthroughs, and brainstorms. The very first step which is normally overlooked by the top level management is defining the exact problem. Though we think that the problem identification is obvious, many times it is not. The rational decision making model is a group-based decision making process. If the problem is not identified properly then we may face a problem as each and every member of the group might have a different definition of the problem. Hence, it is very important that the definition of the problem is the same among all group members. Only then is it possible for the group members to find alternate sources or problem solving in an effective manner. Generate all possible solutions This step encloses two to three final solutions to the problem and preliminary implementation to the site. In planning, examples of this are Planned Units of Development and downtown revitalizations. This activity is best done in groups, as different people may contribute different ideas or alternative solutions to the problem. Without alternative solutions, there is a chance of arriving at a non-optimal or a rational decision. For exploring the alternatives it is necessary to gather information. Technology may help with gathering this information. Generate objective assessment criteria Evaluative criteria are measurements to determine success and failure of alternatives. This step contains secondary and final analysis along with secondary solutions to the problem. Examples of this are site suitability and site sensitivity analysis. After going thoroughly through the process of defining the problem, exploring for all the possible alternatives for that problem and gathering information this step says evaluate the information and the possible options to anticipate the consequences of each and every possible alternative that is thought of. At this point optional criteria for measuring the success or failure of the decision taken needs to be considered. Choose the best solution generated This step comprises a final solution and secondary implementation to the site. At this point the process has developed into different strategies of how to apply the solutions to the site. Based on the criteria of assessment and the analysis done in previous steps, choose the best solution generated. These four steps form the core of the Rational Decision Making Model. Implement the preferred alternative This step includes final implementation to the site and preliminary monitoring of the outcome and results of the site. This step is the building/renovations part of the process. Monitor and evaluate outcomes and results This step contains the secondary and final monitoring of the outcomes and results of the site. This step takes place over a long period of time. Feedback Modify the decisions and actions taken based on the evaluation. 1. Planner defines the problem (not goal) 2. Planner considers several alternatives and analyzes each 3. Preliminary choices of the alternative for best fit considering feedback and impact of the client group 4. Planner designs and implements course of action in the form of an experiment 5. Evaluation of effects of the course of action. Did it alleviate the problem? Any feedback from course of action? 6. On the basis of the feedback should the project or course of action be continued, changed, etc. If effective institutionalize the course of action.[2] Requirements and limitations However, there are a lot of assumptions, requirements without which the rational decision model is a failure. Therefore, they all have to be considered. The model assumes that we have or should or can obtain adequate information, both in terms of quality, quantity and accuracy. This applies to the situation as well as the alternative technical situations. It further assumes that you have or should or can obtain substantive knowledge of the cause and effect relationships relevant to the evaluation of the alternatives. In other words, it assumes that you have a thorough knowledge of all the alternatives and the consequences of the alternatives chosen. It further assumes that you can rank the alternatives and choose the best of it. The following are the limitations for the Rational Decision Making Model: ââ" ª requires a great deal of time ââ" ª requires great deal of information ââ" ª assumes rational, measurable criteria are available and agreed upon ââ" ª assumes accurate, stable and complete knowledge of all the alternatives, preferences, goals and consequences ââ" ª assumes a rational, reasonable, non ââ¬â political world Current status While the rational planning model was innovative at its conception, the concepts are controversial and questionable processes today. The rational planning model has fallen out of mass use as of the last decade. Rather than conceptualising human agents as rational planners, Lucy Suchman argues, agents can better be understood as engaging in situated action.[3]. Going further, Guy Benveniste argued that the rational model could not be implemented without taking the political context into account[4]

My Life Goals
Pete Blankenship Mr. Letz English 101 25 September 2012 My Life Goals Iââ¬â¢m eighteen years old and my birthday is on February 23, 1994. My name is Thomas Earl Blankenship IV, but I go by Pete. I am from Mobile, Alabama and I live on Dog River. I played soccer, basketball, and ran cross country in high school. Soccer is my favorite sport and the team I was on in high school won the state championship twice, and I got named MVP the past two seasons. I have two little brothers Murray(17) and Jack(14). I also have an older sister Katherine(24). Being the oldest boy in the family is challenging sometimes but its a responsibility that I love to have.I attended a military high school called UMS-Wright, and their code of conduct was very strict. My life love is music and my ultimate dream is to become a music producer in Nashville, Tennessee. My goals on a short term scale for this semester are primarily academic, emotional, spiritual, and personal/professional. By the end of this semes ter I will have accumulated a g. p. a. of a 3. 5 or higher. To do this I will have to give up nights with friends and partying, but I believe it will all be worth it. I want to have a fantastic resume academically. My personality and work ethic are what I think will gain me the career choice that i desire.Another goal I will have achieved by the end of the semester is to find a group of people that I can play music with and practice my recording abilities with. I want to do this because music is the love of my life and without it I think I would be depressed. Itââ¬â¢s too soon to tell if life without music effects me emotionally or spiritually because it has only been a few weeks in college, but it has been something that will always cheer me up in bad times and relieves stress when I am feeling overwhelmed. I want to find people to play with to achieve my personal goal of becoming a music producer in Nashville.A goal on a spiritual level is to grow stronger in my faith with Chri st. I have always been a relatively religious person, but I have noticed that when I am not being made by my parents to say my prayers and go to church it is much harder to do so. After coming to the realization that a relationship with Christ is something that I believe I need to be truly happy, I have a set a goal to go to my fraternities bible study every week and to begin going to Campus Crusade. By the end of the year my goals are to finish the year with a minimum 3. 5 G. P. A. to have a house reserved and have selected roommates that I believe will better me as a person, to have achieved at least 80 hours of community service, and to be playing with a band for money. I need to finish with a great G. P. A. because grades are important to me and are a small symbol of your work ethic, so that my resume looks well enough to get the interviews and opportunities that I desire. I want to have 80 service hours to have an outstanding and philanthropic resume. I also want to be a lot mo re frugal with my money and begin playing gigs for money to earn an income and become more responsible.I also want to have accepted and be on the way to an internship in Nashville, Tennessee that I was offered last summer. These final goals I hope to be completed by the time I am 45 years old. I will have a small family in Mobile, Alabama. I will own a recording studio out of Nashville, Tennessee that I can manage from Mobile. I will be able to do this because most music production can be done online and sent through the internet through email. I will also be a millionaire by this point through smart stock investments. I will be known as a man of character and integrity, through honest business transactions and kind actions.I will be a spiritual leader in my family and my community. I will achieve this reputation through a strong group of Christian people to keep me accountable for my actions. My life goals are very important to me now that I am in college. I feel much more obligate d to continue trying my best and staying responsible. Now that there is added pressure to be my best and school is not just school now, itââ¬â¢s training for a career. I will do my best to accomplish my short term goals and continue to gain ground on my ultimate goal of owning a recording studio and achieving happiness through my walk with Christ and providing for my family.

Case Study - Essay Example 3. The amount deducted each year towards depreciation on the machine is the income source from which the cost of lease is recovered. Therefore, the term of lease is equal to the period in which the value of the machine becomes zero. Minimum lease payment made on each due date is inclusive of principal as well as interest. Interest, is calculated, with respect to the diminishing balance of debt, at the same fixed rate as that at which minimum lease payment was discounted. Expenditure incurred under such costs as insurance, maintenance and taxes is shown under appropriate head in accrual or deferral accounts. In the balance sheet, the asset figures as a fixed asset with a title like ââ¬ËLeased Equipment under Capital Leaseââ¬â¢. An equivalent liability, by way of the amount paid towards lease, is projected with a title like ââ¬ËLease Liabilityââ¬â¢. Amount paid on the principal in the following year falls under the current part of the liability and the rest under the non-current part. 4. The present value of liability should eventually equal the aggregate of minimum lease payments projected by the lessee in the balance sheets during the following five (or less as the case may be) financial years from the time the lease agreement is enforced. 1. For Breton, the lessor, the lease arrangement is of direct financing nature. In the transaction, there is no mention of any such thing as dealerââ¬â¢s profit or manufacturerââ¬â¢s profit. Discounted present value of minimum lease payment is more than 90 per cent of the asset value at the time of commencement of lease. No problems are predicted in connection with the collectability of minimum lease payments. Nor are there any dead costs deemed to have to be borne by the lessor. 2. It is mandatory for Breton, the lessor, to document a ââ¬ËLease Receivableââ¬â¢. The present value of minimum lease payments as well as the present

Business commentary - Essay Example minds the mainstream media has been the public medium where the heated debate has erupted regarding the second amendment of the constitution or right to bear arms. Private gun ownership is constantly being assaulted by new laws and legislation limiting and imposing ever increasing licensing requirements and restrictions to legally own a firearm, but have we gone too far? The first laws enacted further restricting gun ownership have already been passed in some states. For example, a bill that bans the ownership of any gun magazines that holds more than 15 rounds has passed the Colorado senate committee on March of this year. New York, Congressman, Steve Israel since last year has been pursuing for the renewal of the soon to expire Undetectable Firearms Act, to even include something that is still in the experimental or prototype stage; firearms or parts of firearms that could in the future be easily printed using a new wave of affordable 3d printers hitting the consumer market. The bill would not only ban the use of weapons that cannot be detected using a metal detector, but any firearm party that could potentially be manufactured in the future using 3d printer technology (Greenburg). This all out assault from the mainstream media, the federal government and local government regarding further limiting our right to bear arms is an illegal immoral atte mpt to further limit our individual freedoms, security of the free state, and further erode our U.S. Constitution (Salsman). Career develpoment plan part (iii) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Career develpoment plan part (iii) - Essay Example Here are three basic questions to answer: This gives the current-state analysis of skills, capabilities, and knowledge which each individual employee holds at this point in time. They are then required to jot down the strengths and weaknesses, which they think they carry. Their self assessment is then passed on to functional managers for evaluation based on their observation about each individual. This is more like a starting point for the employeeââ¬â¢s career, presence of which may un-block potential growth areas. Second question which needs attention is the future-state one seeks to reach, considering the career interest, knowledge, and skills which can be enhanced. It gives a proper direction for pursuing the career one wants to stick to after gaining much experience. Mostly, career counseling or proper mentoring by experts can help in figuring out the place one desires to reach. Lastly, figuring out the gaps between the current-state and the future-state provides structured Action Plan for achieving desired goals. Over here, itââ¬â¢s very critical to have realistic goals in mind, absence of which can make the efforts go invain. The action plan created acts like a detailed map, consisting of step-by-step measures required to progress. The career map formed by the assessment acts like the initial document for carrying out the Performance Appraisal procedure, along with the Job Description and Job Responsibilitiesââ¬â¢ documents provided to employees at the time of induction. At the time of appraisal, which is the basic step for evaluating the progress, appraisal forms (refer to Appendix A) are shared. The yearly, bi-yearly, or quarterly appraisals highlight the strengths, which have been utilized the most; and the areas of improvement of each employee separately. Feedbacks of the appraisals are shared with the employees individually by calling private meeting in a closed room, where concerns can be shared and disagreements can be catered to
